Maya's Story
In the middle of last year, I had lunch with a client from ten years ago. Yes, ten years ago! I smile when people are surprised by that.

In the middle of last year, I had lunch with a client from ten years ago. Yes, ten years ago! I smile when people are surprised by that. At Diamond, our whole team go above and beyond to support our clients. It's no surprise that beyond the initial 12 months of supporting women, we form part of their village.
Maya* walked through our doors at 18 years old. Blindsided with her unplanned pregnancy. Nervous. Not sure whether to terminate or go ahead with having her baby.
What would the future look like as a young, single mum?
Would Maya have a career?
Could she provide the best life for her unborn child?
Through Options Counselling, Maya not only had an opportunity to explore all the choices ahead of her but to safely process these options with a counsellor.
Maya made her choice.
Today, Maya has a gorgeous ten year old son. She has a thriving career. A solid community around her beautiful family. A bright future.
And thanks to the generosity of our financial supporters, Maya received the resource, counselling and support she needed in those early years - free of charge.
Back to last year's lunch. Had our lunch catch up had stopped right there, I would have called it a great day. But my day became even greater.
Our lunch ended with a spontaneous FaceTime call to someone special in Maya's life. Lacey, Maya's younger sister, was facing her own unplanned pregnancy.
Her partner wanted to keep the baby, Lacey was undecided.
A new conversation had begun.
A full circle moment.
For Maya.
For her sister.
For the team at Diamond Women.
